Privacy policy

Black River Webworks collects only what it needs to run this website and answer you. We don't sell or rent your information, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.

What we collect and why

• Contact and consultation requests. When you send the form on our site, we receive your name, business, email, phone, the service you're interested in and your message. We use them only to respond to your request.
• Site chat. We receive the messages you type. Replies come from Eli or from an AI assistant that runs on OpenAI's service, so your chat messages are sent to OpenAI to write a reply. A random chat session lasts up to 7 days. We keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to stop spam and abuse, not to identify you.
• Site analytics. We count page views and visits, referral sources, campaign tags, device type, browser and country. Analytics uses temporary browser storage, not tracking cookies, and does not store raw IP addresses or form messages. It stays off if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, and you can turn it off anytime with the Privacy choices button on any page.
• Facebook and Instagram lead forms. If you answer one of our ads with a form, Meta shares what you entered with us: usually your name, email or phone, and what you need. We use it only to reply.
• Payments. Payments are made on Square's own checkout pages. Square handles your card details; we don't see or store full card numbers.
• Weather on our homepage. Your browser asks the National Weather Service for current conditions at the Lorain County airport. We don't use your location, but the Weather Service receives your request like any website would.

Who helps us handle it

We use a few service providers, each only for its part of the job:

• Vercel hosts this website.
• Neon stores our site's database, including chat and request records.
• Google runs our email.
• OpenAI writes the AI assistant's chat replies.
• Square processes payments.
• Meta runs our Facebook and Instagram pages and ads, under Meta's own privacy policy.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers, our site or ourselves from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

We keep messages, requests and chat records while we need them to respond to you or to work with you as a client. Ask us and we'll delete them, unless we have to keep a record for tax, legal or billing reasons.

Your choices

• Turn analytics off with the Privacy choices button on any page.
• Ask us what we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
• Reply to any promotional email from us to stop getting them.

Children

This site is for businesses and isn't meant for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
